TelferYoung (Canterbury) Limited has offices at 58 Armagh Street, Christchurch, 130A Percival Street, Rangiora and 17 Dee Street, Timaru. We provide valuation and advisory services across all property sectors from Kaikoura in the north to the Waitaki River in the south.
The company traces its history back to the 1970’s when Ian Telfer commenced private practice in Christchurch. In 1987 the company became Robertson Young Telfer (Southern) Limited linking with offices in Auckland, Hamilton, and Wellington. In 2000 TelferYoung was formed expanding to 8 offices from Whangarei to Christchurch. TelferYoung has subsequently expanded adding offices in Gore, Dunedin, Tauranga, North Shore and Rotorua. Our Timaru office, led by Ian Fairbrother, was added in 2014. The North Canterbury office in Rangiora was opened in 2016.
The company has 15 registered valuers and 1 graduates. The company Directors are Chris Stanley, Mark Beatson, Mark Dunbar, John Tappenden, Victoria Murdoch, Hayden Doody and Martin Winder. Nik Butler is a joint Director of the North Canterbury office. The Directors collectively have over 130 years’ experience in Christchurch and lower South Island real estate.
The Canterbury team prides itself on the long term relationships developed with a wide range of clients over 40 years. We have a strong presence across all property sectors with valuers specialising in property types as diverse as airports, schools, telecommunications, hospitals, conservation land and tourism. Our valuers frequently appear in Mediations, Expert Determinations, Arbitrations, the Environment Court, District Court and High Court.
In addition to our professional activities many of the team are also involved with developing the profession and community. We have members on the Property Institute Branch Committee, New Zealand Institute of Valuers Council, PINZ Valuation Standards Board, International Valuation Standards Board and guest lecturers at Lincoln University. In the community we are involved with Inspire Foundation, and our Directors and staff contribute to and are involved in a number of community based organisations and sporting clubs.
