BACKGROUND

Evan is a founding Director of TelferYoung (Auckland) Limited and predecessor companies. He has been in private practice for over 47 years. He is a highly regarded valuer and property advisor with extensive experience over a wide range of property asset classes.

SPECIALISATION

Evan has acted as a consultant and advisor to Government, Territorial Local Authorities, major commercial organisations and investors. He specialises in litigation as an expert witness, arbitrator and review valuer. Evan's direct work experience includes the valuation of Public Sector Assets, Hospitals, Local Authority and Government property, compensation for roads and strata tunnel easements, office buildings, industrial and commercial properties involving rental, insurance, mortgage and market issues, prime coastal land and other high-quality residential property.

Having undertaken valuations and property advisory over a wide spectrum, Evan is called upon as an acknowledged specialist for compensation valuations, ground leasehold assessments and general property advice for litigation. This includes the valuation of buildings with structural issues including leaky building syndrome and stigma. He is consulted on the methodology and approaches to be adopted for technical valuation tasks.

Evan has given expert evidence over many years before the High Court, District Courts, Weathertight Homes Tribunal, Land Valuation Tribunal and before Arbitrations. He regularly assists at mediations and Judicial Settlement Conferences.

PERSONAL INTERESTS

Evan's interests are based around his family with his children and now grandchildren being the personal focus of his life. 

In more recent years, he has added travel and fishing to his agenda as well. 

Evan’s other interests include community work, commenced 50 years ago by assisting with property advice to Citizens Advice Bureaus on Auckland’s North Shore, coaching school hockey teams, a long term chairman of North Shore Athletics club and chairman of the School Committee at Riverhead.

He is even working out a passion for farming on a small property holding in the Coatesville-Riverhead Valley. The current accent is an attempt to rebuild a simple family bach at Whangamata.
