After the completion of a rural land management degree in the UK, Sam immigrated to New Zealand in 2005, basing himself in Rotorua.

Sam spent the next three years in Rotorua qualifying as a Registered Valuer under the tutelage of Hugh Reynolds and Martyn Craven of Reid and Reynolds (now TelferYoung Rotorua). The merging of a family farming business in 2009 facilitated a move to South Canterbury where Sam now resides with his wife and young family.

Following a stint with National Bank’s rural finance team and growing an organic dairy business, Sam took a senior management role with wood processor Canterbury Woodchip supplying biomass energy to industry.

A return to the valuation profession was stimulated by Sam’s work in the biomass sector and the opportunities afforded by Government commitments to ‘green the New Zealand economy’.

Personal interests

When not working, Sam enjoys renovating houses that time forgot, watching his kids play sport and cooking up a storm in the kitchen.
